Nyatoh has a heartwood that is pale pink to reddish brown or purplish brown in color. The grain is typically straight to shallow interlocked and it has a moderately fine texture. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Nyatoh is rated as non-durable in regards to decay. It is fairly easy to work with, all though some species have a moderate blunting effect on cutters. The wood can cause gum build up on cutting surfaces.
