Bocote has a yellowish brown body with dramatic dark brown streaks. The color darkens with age. It’s grain is figured and tends to be interlocked while it carries a medium uniform texture. The wood gives a good natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Bocote is moderately to very moderately durable when it comes to decay. It is easy to work with and turns, and finishes well. Gluing precautions must be taken because of how oily the wood is.
