Lyptus has a color that ranges from a lighter salmon pink to a darker brownish red. The color tends to darken with age. The grain is straight and it has a medium texture. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Lyptus is rated as moderately durable in regards to decay. It is easy to work with but can burn easy if sharp cutters are not used. The wood glues, stains, and finishes well.
