Greenheart has a heartwood with a pale olive green color and a sapwood with a yellowish green color. The grain is straight to interlocked and it has a fine to medium texture. The wood gives off a good natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Greenheart is rated as very durable in regards to decay. The wood is suited for marine environments. It can be difficult to work with on account of its high blunting effect. Take precautions gluing as it is an oily tropical wood. The wood turns and finishes well. Also it responds moderately to steam bending.
