Persimmon has a very wide sapwood that is a white to pale yellowish brown color that will darken with age. The heartwood is a dark brown to black color. The grain is straight and it has a uniform medium to coarse texture. The end grain is semi-,ring-porous. Persimmon is rated as perishable in regards to decay. The wood turns and finishes well.
