Tineo has a heartwood that varies from a pink, red, or orangish brown color and has contrasting dark brown to black veins that are sometimes present. The sapwood is a pale yellowish brown color. The grain is straight and it has a uniform medium texture. The end grain is diffuse porous. Tineo is rated as non-durable in regards to decay. It is easy to work with and glues, turns, and finishes well.
