Turpentine has a heartwood that is a red or reddish brown color and a sapwood which is a pale pinkish color. The grain is straight, wavy, or interlocked and it has a fine to medium texture. The wood is rated as very durable in regards to decay. It is difficult to work with because of its high density. It will finish to high lustre and it turns well.
