Afrormosia has a heartwood that is typically yellowish brown and tends to darken with age. It has a fine uniform texture and the grain is usually straight. Afrormosia carries a good natural lustre in its raw state. The end-grain is diffuse-porous with small to medium sized pores. Afrormosia is very durable to decay and insect attacks. This wood is easy to work with, making it turn, glue, and stains well.
