Cucumbertree has a very wide sapwood that has a creamy white to grayish color. The heartwood is narrow and a medium to dark brown. The grain is straight and it has a fine uniform texture. The wood gives off a moderate natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Cucumbertree is rated as non-durable to perishable in regards to decay. The wood is easy to work with and turns, glues, stains, and finishes well.
