Guanacaste has a heartwood that is light to medium brown in color and a sapwood that is pale yellow in color. The grain is slightly interlocked and it has a very coarse texture. The wood gives off a moderate natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Guanacaste is rated as durable to very durable in regards to decay. The wood is easy to work with and glues and finishes well.
