Lacewood has a heartwood that is a reddish brown color with gray or brown rays. The grain is straight and it has a coarse uneven texture. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Lacewood is rated as non-durable in regards to decay. It is a fairly easy wood to work with and glues, stains, and finishes well. It does have a moderate blunting effect on cutters.
