Lilacs color varies with its species but it is sometimes seen with a reddish or lavender color streaks throughout the heartwood. The grain is slightly interlocked and it has a very fine texture. The wood gives off a good natural lustre. The end grain is semi-ring-porous. It has excellent turning properties.
