Machiche has a heartwood that varies from light brown to darker reddish brown and it has patterns of thin, light coloured lines. The sapwood is a yellow color. The grain is straight, irregular, or interlocked and it has a coarse texture. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Machiche is rated as very durable in regards to decay. It is easy to work with despite its high density. The wood turns, glues, and finishes well.
