Obeche has a heartwood with a pale yellow color which will slightly darken with age. The grain is interlocked and it has a medium to coarse texture. The wood gives off a good natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Oboe he is rated as non-durable in regards to decay. It is easy to work with and carves, stains, glues, and finishes well.
