Paulownia has a heartwood with a pale grayish brown color, sometimes with a reddish or purplish hue. The sapwood is a pale white color. The grain is straight and it has a coarse uneven texture. The end grain is ring-porous. Paulownia is rated as durable in regards to decay. It is extremely easy to work with and glues, stains, and finishes well.
