Ramin has a heartwood that is white to a pale yellow, sometimes grayish color. The grain is straight or slightly interlocked and it has a medium fine texture. The wood gives off a low natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. The wood is rated as a non-durable to perishable in regards to decay. The wood is good to work with and turns, glues, and finishes well.
