Sheoak has a heartwood that is a pink to reddish brown color, sometimes with a darker blackish streaks. The sapwood is a light yellowish brown color. The grain is straight to slightly interlocked and it has a uniform medium texture. The wood has a moderate amount of natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. The wood is rated as non-durable in regards to decay. The denser the species the more difficult it is too work with. It finishes well.
