Sissoo has a heartwood that ranges from golden brown to darker reddish brown and a sapwood that is a pale straw color. The grain is straight, though it can be interlocked, and it has a medium to coarse texture. The wood gives off a good natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. The wood is rated as durable to very durable in regards to decay. It is good to work with and turns, glues, and finishes well.
