Kauri has a heartwood which is a pale yellowish white to golden brown color. The grain is straight and it has a fine even texture. The wood gives off a moderate natural lustre. The resin canals are absent. It is rated as non-durable to moderately durable in regards to decay. The wood has a good workability and glues and finishes well.
