The heartwood of Canarywood varies from a pale yellow-orange to a darker reddish brown. The sapwood is a pale yellow color. The color tends to darken and homogenize with age. The grain is typically straight and it has a uniform fine to medium texture. The wood gives off a good natural lustre. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Canarywood is very durable in regards to decay and is resistant to termites and marine borer. The wood is easy to work with and turns, glues, and finishes well.
