Koa has a color that is highly variable, but tends to be medium golden or reddish brown. The grain is usually slightly interlocked and sometimes wavy and it has a uniform medium to coarse texture. The end grain is diffuse-porous. Koa is rated as non-durable to perishable in regards to decay. It is easy to work with and turns, stains, and finishes well. Sometimes there can be problems with gluing the wood.
